Looking at and touching these historical photos, I feel the weight of time, which is very light in my hands but very deep in my heart. It is precisely because of this experience that I want to find the key to self-exploration through painting old photos.
After viewing these photos, I believe that the feelings conveyed by the photos exist. I want to express my emotions or psychology subjectively through painting. But photographs themselves have no emotion because they are inanimate objects. However, photographs can evoke emotions in the viewer. The emotional impact of a photograph depends on how it is framed, its subject, and the feelings it evokes in the viewer (Lopes, D., 2005).
Even with landscape photos, the concept of evoking palpable feelings from deep within is a powerful tool in landscape photography, allowing the viewer to connect with the environment in a deeply personal way. Anyone can use technical skills to set up a camera in a beautiful location to capture a beautiful photo, but it takes artistic skills to create a truly evocative photo that speaks to someone's soul.
